Fórmula E quer ser mais rápida e tem plano em prática

The Formula E is approaching its tenth year of existence and has been having increasingly faster cars – although it remains mostly limited to urban circuits. In the future, it wants to go even further, already working on a future version of Gen3 that is considerably faster.

The website the-race.com writes that an important closed-door test took place this month in Mallorca for the work of the next generation. The goal is to make the car at least three seconds per lap faster. The teams worked with new tires, as well as a changed front powertrain kit (FPK) to an “in-drive” active mode.

All together, it made the cars more impressive and faster. The second homologation cycle of Gen3 starts in the 2024/2025 season, with a considerably different version from the current one. The recently tested variant performed better according to some of the drivers involved in the test, although the function of the FPK was the main differentiator – not the tires.

In the test, two full race simulations were also carried out, practicing the use of fast charging that should bring pit stops back by 2024. Only NIO 333 was not present in the tests conducted in November.
