Formula 1 Strikes Epic Three-Year Deal Ensuring Mexico City Grand Prix Continues

Formula 1 Secures Mexico City Grand Prix for Three More Thrilling Years!

Exciting news for Formula 1 fans as the Mexico City Grand Prix secures its spot on the calendar for another three years! The highly-anticipated extension was officially confirmed, following hints dropped by Mexico City mayor Clara Brugada earlier last week, pointing towards a contract renewal with F1 on April 30th.

The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez made its grand return to the F1 calendar in 2015 after a long hiatus since its last race in 1992. Despite Mexico’s absence on the grid following Sergio Perez’s departure from Red Bull after the F1 2024 season, the Mexico City Grand Prix will continue to captivate audiences for the foreseeable future. This decision comes amidst competition from potential new venues in Thailand, America, and Japan, as well as lobbying efforts from past hosts like South Africa, South Korea, and Turkey.

The current agreement for Mexico’s Grand Prix was set to expire after this year’s event, but the new three-year deal ensures that F1 will rev its engines in Mexico City for the upcoming seasons. Fans in Mexico have even more reason to celebrate as rumors swirl about Perez’s potential return to the F1 grid with the emerging Cadillac team, with insider sources hinting at a probable deal.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are very excited to announce that the Mexico City Grand Prix will continue to be part of our calendar through the 2028 season. Formula 1 is energy, passion, and emotion, and every year the unique atmosphere created by our fans in Mexico City is one of the most incredible and energetic experiences of our championship.”

Domenicali extended his gratitude to the key figures involved in making this extension possible, including President Claudia Sheinbaum, Mayor Clara Brugada, and Alejandro Soberón Kuri, emphasizing their dedication to the success of the event. The F1 chief also acknowledged the local partners and businesses for their crucial role in enhancing the Grand Prix experience.

With this renewed partnership, F1 enthusiasts can look forward to more exhilarating races in Mexico City, basking in the unwavering support and fervor of the Mexican fans. The stage is set for yet another thrilling showdown in October, where the world’s fastest drivers will vie for victory in the vibrant Mexican metropolis.
