FIA Turmoil: Wittich and Basarri Out due to Leadership Drama

Formula 1’s governing body, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), plans to augment the stewards’ panels at six high-intensity events in 2025, including the inaugural race of the season in Australia. The panels, which currently consist of three officials, will see an addition of one more member, making them a quartet. This development has been disclosed in the recently revised Article 15.1 of F1’s 2025 sporting rules.

The decision to increase the number of officials in the stewards’ panels is a strategic move to handle the intense workload effectively during these high-profile events. The amendment in the rules comes at a crucial juncture, just as the new racing season is about to commence. This transformation is expected to enhance the efficiency of decision-making and results’ accuracy during these races.

F1’s stewarding panels have traditionally been a trio, but the ever-increasing demands of the sport necessitate this innovation. The inclusion of an additional official is seen as a necessary measure to maintain the integrity and fairness of the sport at these high-stakes events.

The execution of this decision is an indication of F1 and FIA’s commitment to adapting to the evolving needs of the sport. It reflects their understanding of the complexities of the sport and their willingness to implement necessary changes to ensure a fair and level playing field for all competitors.

Stay tuned for more updates as Formula 1 navigates through this exciting period of change and growth.
