Formula 1 2025 Season: Predicting Surprising Victors and Potential Shake-ups

As the wheels of the Formula 1 2025 season start to turn, a new shape of the grid is forming, packed with surprise moves and monumental shake-ups. It’s an exciting time for fans and pundits alike, as they try to fathom who among the racers might emerge as the unexpected victors of the year. One such pundit, Ted Kravitz, a seasoned presenter of Formula 1, has shared his insights on potential dark horses set to turn heads this season.

In the thrilling world of F1, the 2025 season is fraught with intriguing narratives. Lewis Hamilton, the British racing titan, has made a stunning transition to Ferrari, while Liam Lawson has been unexpectedly elevated to Red Bull Racing. Simultaneously, Carlos Sainz has made an unexpected leap to Williams, and McLaren is rumored to be taking a bold approach to its car design. With a plethora of rookies joining the ranks and seasoned veterans holding the fort, it’s indeed a challenging task to predict the season’s outcomes.

The pre-season testing in Bahrain offered a glimpse of what’s to come, but the real spectacle will begin when the rubber hits the track at the Australian Grand Prix in Albert Park. Kravitz, however, has ventured to provide a sneak peek into some of the potential shockers of 2025, focusing on surprising and first-time race winners.

During a pre-season preview with Sky Sports, Kravitz was prompted to predict a newcomer to the winners’ circle in F1. His answer was immediate: “Kimi Antonelli, the rookie for Mercedes.”

Mercedes team boss, Toto Wolff, would likely echo this sentiment. He’s shown great confidence in Antonelli, treating him as the most promising newcomer since Max Verstappen. But Kravitz’s forecast for the 2025 season’s surprise victor was even more intriguing: “Either of these two: Carlos Sainz or Alex Albon.”

Here’s what Kravitz had to say about the unexpected switch of Sainz from Ferrari to Williams: “Carlos Sainz had to make way for Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari, but he’s found a promising spot at Williams.” He further elaborated, “While it’s not the fastest car on the grid, it could potentially lead the midfield. So, on a day filled with chaos, rain, or accidents, either Carlos Sainz or Alex Albon could clinch a win.”

Williams, under the guidance of team boss James Vowles, has made notable strides in recent years, ascending from the bottom rungs to a midfield contender. The acquisition of Sainz is considered a significant move that could potentially propel the team forward. Williams has historically struggled with a lineup that often included one quality racer and one pay driver. However, the 2025 duo of Sainz and Albon could be a game-changer.

Kravitz also highlighted Red Bull’s new recruit, Liam Lawson, as a potential standout, not just for his personal performance but for his potential influence on the World Championship. “[Lawson is] clearly going to be the number two to Max Verstappen,” Kravitz noted. He added that Verstappen stands a good chance of securing a fifth Drivers’ Championship with Red Bull, as the team will likely focus on ensuring he scores the majority of their points.

As the world waits to see if a Williams victory or an Antonelli triumph will materialize, it’s clear that the 2025 Formula 1 season is primed to be a rollercoaster ride of surprises and potential upsets. The jury might still be out, but the countdown to the unveiling of the season’s shock victors has already begun.
