Formula 1 has experienced a series of controversial decisions made by officials in recent years. The 2024 season has been particularly affected by penalties considered unfair or inconsistent. This issue of inconsistency in penalties has been a concern within the sport for some time, with various drivers and experts expressing the need for a more consistent approach.

Following the recent Chinese Grand Prix, where several drivers received penalties that may not have been proportional to their actions, a former Red Bull driver shared his thoughts on the matter. Chandok suggested that having the same stewards overseeing all races throughout the year would help achieve greater consistency in penalty enforcement.

There has been a significant lack of uniformity in penalties in recent years. I am in favor of rewarding midfield teams, and propose that the additional funds received by the FIA from these scoring teams be used to employ permanent stewards. Relying on a rotating group of volunteers is not ideal, as it is a demanding job and different individuals are unlikely to have the same perspective on track incidents.

The Sky Sports pundit further emphasized that having a consistent group of four stewards throughout the season would provide fans and drivers with clarity regarding the decisions made. This would ensure a more transparent and understandable process.

Since his second year in Formula 1, Max Verstappen has been driving for the Milton-Keynes-based Red Bull team. Despite being committed to the team until the end of 2028, rumors have emerged of a possible change due to internal issues at Red Bull.

In response to these rumors, Chandhok expressed his desire to see the three-time world champion test his skills with a different team. He suggested that Verstappen should take on the challenge of becoming a top driver for multiple teams, following in the footsteps of other world champions who have achieved success with different teams.

The former Red Bull driver also noted that it would be intriguing to witness Verstappen’s performance in a new environment, where he is not deeply involved. Only time will tell if Chandok’s aspirations for Verstappen’s career will come to fruition.
