Tighe Scott, a former dirt track racer turned NASCAR driver, recently made headlines for his involvement in the US Capitol riot that took place four years ago. The 75-year-old Scott, along with his 48-year-old son, was arrested by the US Attorney’s Office in D.C. They were joined by another father and son from Pennsylvania. The Scotts face multiple serious charges, including assaulting police officers who were protecting the US Capitol. It is important to note that they were part of the pro-Trump group outside the building and did not enter the building.

During his racing career, Tighe Scott showcased his talent in the lower levels before earning a spot in the NASCAR Cup series. From 1976 to 1982, he competed for teams like Ballard Racing and Baxter Price. Although he never secured a win in his six-year Cup career, he achieved his best finish of fifth place on two occasions at Talladega and Bristol.

The FBI was able to identify Tighe Scott during their investigation thanks to a witness who recognized him as a former NASCAR driver. This information greatly assisted law enforcement in locating the former racer.

According to prosecutors, the four individuals who were arrested verbally and physically assaulted the officers during the incident. They reportedly used flagpoles, golf clubs, and a “Closed Area” sign to attack or throw at the officers. Jarret Scott, in particular, was reported to have used a golf club during his altercation with the police.

The father and son duo now face two criminal charges, as well as multiple misdemeanor charges, which could result in imprisonment. It will be interesting to see how they navigate the investigation and ongoing legal process.
