Former Formula 1 driver believes Red Bull’s success depends on Max Verstappen as Sergio Perez struggles in 2024.

Max Verstappen has accumulated a total of 277 points in the ongoing season of Formula 1. The 2024 F1 season has been a challenging one for Verstappen and Sergio Perez, as they have faced numerous difficulties. Despite an initially promising start, things have taken a downward turn for the Mexican driver.

In contrast, Verstappen has been in exceptional form and has taken on the responsibility of leading the Red Bull team almost single-handedly. He has been at the forefront of their charge, showcasing his remarkable skills. Currently, Verstappen is leading the driver’s championship with a significant lead of 78 points over McLaren’s competitor.

Former F1 driver, Herbert, has emphasized the immense responsibility that Verstappen carries on his shoulders. The 26-year-old has accumulated an impressive 277 points, in stark contrast to Sergio Perez’s 131 points. Herbert’s comments highlight the pressure Verstappen faces and the weight of expectations placed upon him.

While Herbert acknowledges Verstappen’s responsibility, he also speculates about a potential move for the Dutchman. Throughout the season, there have been rumors linking Verstappen to Mercedes. The three-time world champion, who is currently contracted with Red Bull until 2028, is keen to have Verstappen join his team for the 2025 season.

The upcoming weeks will undoubtedly be intriguing as we await the decision regarding who will secure the coveted seat alongside for the next year. If Verstappen expresses his desire to move, it is highly likely that Wolff and his team will prioritize him over the 17-year-old Antonelli.
