Ex-campeão da F1 critica Sergio Perez por não acompanhar Max Verstappen.

Sergio Perez has scored only eight points in the last four Formula 1 races.

The team based in Milton Keynes started the current season with great momentum from 2023. Their drivers consistently finished in formation and increased their lead in the constructors’ standings week after week. However, this changed when the Austrian team seemed to have reached a development limit, and Perez’s inability to reach podiums added to their problems. This has now raised concerns about Perez’s performance and his negative impact on Red Bull.

Sergio Perez started the season as a strong second driver for the team in Milton Keynes. However, as the season progressed, his performance from 2023 returned, and fans witnessed his elimination in the first qualifying session. This raised concerns at Red Bull headquarters, as both McLaren and Mercedes caught up with the Austrian team in terms of development.

This led former F1 champion Damon Hill to comment on Red Bull’s current difficulties.

Hill pointed out that despite having the best car on the grid, 34-year-old driver Perez has not been able to keep up with the pace of his teammate and even drivers with inferior machines. He further emphasized that this situation is disastrous for Red Bull’s hopes of extending their lead in the constructors’ standings. The team consistently lost points due to Perez’s below-par performances.

As mentioned earlier, Perez has been lagging behind his teammate and has been completely outperformed within the team. His lack of results has put Red Bull in a delicate position where their championship lead may be at risk.

This has led the Red Bull team boss to express the urgent need for Perez to improve his performance.

The 50-year-old man acknowledged that the team relies heavily on the six-time race winner to deliver, as they have been losing crucial points due to Perez’s disappointing performances. He further explained that Perez’s poor results have limited the team’s strategic options to support his teammate, which could be detrimental to their chances of winning the driver’s title.

On the other hand, Perez disregarded his lack of pace compared to his championship-winning teammate and claimed that McLaren has the fastest car on the grid. This has created a conflict of interests between the two parties. Considering all these factors, Red Bull may become vulnerable in the upcoming races if Perez does not resolve his difficulties.
