Ford vai enfrentar Pikes Peak com versão especial da F-150 Lightning

Ford has revealed that it is working on a special version of the F-150 Lightning, with which it will participate in the 2024 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the well-known “race to the clouds,” which will take place on June 23 in Colorado, USA.

The American brand has released a teaser of the electric pickup truck that it will use for the event, stating only that it will not be a production model, but rather a special version, similar to the Supervan 4.2, based on the E-Transit Custom that was present at Pikes Peak in 2023, developed by Stohl Advanced Research and Development (STARD), and equipped with three electric motors, one on the front axle and two on the rear axle, producing a combined power output of 1,400 hp.

The three electric motors are powered by a set of Ultra High Performance Li-Polymer NMC cells from STARD. In addition, the energy regeneration power is 600 kW. The Supervan even set a new record in the Open Division, completing the 20 km of winding mountain roads in 8 minutes and 47.682 seconds.

It is worth noting that Ford recently revealed a radical version of the electric pickup truck, developed by Ford Performance in partnership with Vaughn Gittin Jr and RTR Vehicles, equipped with two motors, one per axle, producing a total power output of 580 hp, powered by a 131 kWh “extended-range” battery.
