Ford is marking the 60th anniversary of the Transit, and in this regard, it has just entered the Guinness World Records after organizing a parade in the United Kingdom that brought together more than two hundred units of the well-known model from the American brand.
From the first generation of gasoline Transits to the latest E-Transit and Transit Custom PHEV models, which are supporting Ford Pro customers in transitioning their businesses to electric mobility, this caravan was made possible thanks to the strong passion of the Transit community, including customers and entrepreneurs, dealers, body transformation partners, media, Ford employees, and many fans of the model.
“This record feat is a testament to the passion that the Transit inspires and the versatility of the world’s best-selling cargo van,” said Lisa Brankin, President and CEO of Ford of Great Britain and Ireland. “Our parade of Transit models showcased the enormous variety of services made possible by Ford Pro and the Ford van, a benchmark model in the industry for six decades.”
Each of the drivers who participated is now also a certified record holder in their own right, having received a special digital certificate to mark their participation in the event. Among them, and fundamental to the success of the record, was Peter Lee, president of the Transit Van Club.
“The Transit has touched millions of lives over its 60 years of supporting businesses and communities, and each of those people is part of the story of this iconic van,” said Lee. “The Transit has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, so being involved in this record-breaking experience is something very special. It’s a day I won’t forget anytime soon.”
The impressive Ford caravan was set up at the Ford Technical Center in Dunton, Essex, in the United Kingdom, where the company designs and develops the latest generations of the Transit.
The parade of more than two hundred units traveled 46 kilometers to the Transit Festival at the Chelmsford City Racecourse, where over 2500 registered enthusiasts enjoyed moments of fun, games, and useful activities, including workshops to help small business owners maximize the productivity of their vehicles, delve into important issues like tool theft, and learn how to use social media to expand their businesses.
Remember that the first Ford Transit came off the production line on August 9, 1965, and since then, more than 13 million units have been produced worldwide.
