Ford mostra versão radical da F-150 Lightning

Ford continues to surprise off-road fans with radical versions of its electric models. This time, it unveiled the F-150 Lightning Switchgear pickup, a demonstration model that looks more like the F-150 Raptor, and is in line with the well-known Mustang Mach-E 1400 or even the SuperVan.

This version, developed by Ford Performance in partnership with Vaughn Gittin Jr and RTR Vehicles, is based on the well-known F-150 Lightning, the best-selling 100% electric pickup in the US, and is equipped with two motors, one per axle, which deliver a total power of 580 hp, powered by a 131 kWh extended-range battery.

In order to reduce weight in this radical version of the electric pickup, and to achieve better dynamics, Ford Performance replaced the body panels and side skirts with carbon fiber elements, along with redesigned bumpers to allow for better off-road entry and exit angles.

In addition, the American brand equipped this unique model with 3.0 Fox shocks with internal bypass, combined with a custom front double-arm suspension and independent multi-link with a stabilizer bar at the rear.

This alteration is also accompanied by a widening of the tracks compared to the base version of the F-150 Lightning, which according to Ford Performance, allows for greater off-road stability and better ground clearance.

The demonstration model, which will certainly serve as the basis for the production of a more radical 100% electric pickup from Ford, is also equipped with 18” wheels, mounting 37” Nitto Ridge Grappler tires.

Ford did not reveal details of the interior, but in the images released, it is possible to see that the F-150 Lightning Switchgear is equipped with Recaro sport seats with six-point seat belts.
