Ford has announced a significant strategic reorganization of the company’s competition division, with the Ford Performance brand becoming Ford Racing. This change underscores a renewed focus that further emphasizes the integration of engineering developed for competition into production models, accelerating the transfer of motorsport technology to its production vehicles.
In this way, the new Ford Racing division has been designed to achieve unprecedented integration between the company’s road and competition vehicles. Under unified global leadership, Ford’s engineering, design, and aerodynamics teams will collaborate to develop innovative solutions for competitions, which will then be applied to production products, and vice versa.
According to the American brand, “this holistic approach aims to provide the best products, technologies, and experiences to Ford customers”.
Thus, Ford intends for the technology and experience gained on the tracks, such as at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Daytona, or the Dakar Rally, to directly influence the design and technology of future models, such as the F-150 Raptor as well as the next generation of the Mustang. In this regard, Ford has already announced that the first production vehicle embodying the new philosophy of Ford Racing will be unveiled in January.
To reinforce the strategy of the new sports division, Ford has chosen Australian Daniel Ricciardo, former F1 driver, as the global ambassador for Ford Racing, with the driver expressing his enthusiasm for the new role on social media.
