Ford has announced significant improvements in terms of range for the Puma Gen-E, now claiming over 400 km between charges in the WLTP cycle (up to 550 km in exclusive city use), surpassing the previously announced 376 km. To make this possible, the blue oval brand optimized the battery of the 2026 edition of its popular 100% electric SUV, based on the same platform as its “siblings” with internal combustion engines, without increasing the respective capacity of 43 kWh.
This is something that, by the way, may change in the not-so-distant future, as the American manufacturer admits it may change its strategy in this area, with two possibilities on the table: adapting the current architecture to allow for the adoption of a larger battery with more capacity, capable of ensuring greater range; or resorting to the MEB Entry platform, from the upcoming VW ID. Cross and ID. Polo. Recently, Ford also announced that the Puma Gen-E will be equipped with the BlueCruise system for semi-autonomous driving on highways, a feature proposed in combination with the Driver Assistance Pack: “The way this car has been received in Europe makes us very happy. By increasing the range and introducing BlueCruise, we are raising the bar,” said Jon Williams, the brand’s head for Europe.
