Ford is expanding the range of the seven-seater Tourneo Connect with the addition of a plug-in hybrid powertrain, a first in the segment.
The Tourneo Connect Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) will elevate the flexibility and versatility of the Tourneo Connect model to a new level, allowing customers to electrify their driving experience, traveling up to 110 km on pure electric power, and driving with zero exhaust emissions in the increasing number of low-emission zones in Europe.
The new powertrain integrates a 1.5-liter EcoBoost gasoline engine, a high-voltage battery, and an electric motor to deliver a combined power of 150 hp and 350 Nm of maximum torque through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Ford has revealed that the battery allows fast charging up to 50 kW using public DC chargers on long trips, or it can be fully recharged at home using AC charging up to 11 kW.
The Tourneo Connect plug-in hybrid is available in both the five-seat version as well as the seven-seat variant, with a third row of two seats as standard. The spacious and versatile interior is not affected by the new engine, as with the rear bench seats removed, the model offers up to 3.1 m3 of boot space in the Grand Tourneo Connect and up to 2.6 m3 in the five-seat variant.
Ford has revealed that orders for the Tourneo Connect plug-in hybrid will open next summer, with the first deliveries scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
