Ford Pro unveiled a new option for extending the range of the E-Transit on Tuesday, enhancing the capabilities of the large electric van.
The new version includes a battery with 89 kWh capacity, usable for a maximum range of up to 402 km, which is 28% more than an equivalent version with normal range, as well as faster charging performance.
As a result, the maximum AC charging capacity has increased from 11 kW to 22 kW, meaning a full charge will take less than six hours. The DC fast charging capacity has also been increased from 115 kW to 180 kW, so a 10-minute charge can add up to 116 km of range, and a charge from 10 to 80 percent takes approximately 28 minutes.
Ford has equipped this model with a standard steam injection heat pump, allowing for more efficient heating of the cabin even in low temperatures. The system is similar to the one in the E-Transit Custom, the first electric vehicle to use this technology, designed to improve energy efficiency and optimize range in colder climates.
“The option of extended autonomy for the E-Transit is another example of Ford Pro’s commitment to making high-productivity electric fleets a reality throughout Europe,”, stated Hans Schep, General Manager of Ford Pro, Europe.
