Flying Lizard Motorsports will be returning to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with a single appearance at the Long Beach Grand Prix on April 20. The team will be competing in the street circuit sprint race with their Aston Martin Vantage GTD competitor number 28. The race will feature two categories for the multi-class event. The Aston Martin number 28, sponsored by 5.11 Tactical, will have an orange and black livery similar to their appearances in the SRO Fanatec GT World Challenge America. The race is expected to have a grid of ten GTPs and 18 GTD cars, and will be the third round of the 2024 season. The race will last 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Elias Sabo and Andy Lee will be the drivers of the Aston Martin number 28. Sabo, who resides in Newport Beach, expressed his excitement to compete in the Long Beach Grand Prix, which is his local track. He is looking forward to racing in front of his friends and family who will be present at the event. Sabo and Lee had originally planned to compete in the race in 2020, but it was canceled due to Covid. Now, four years later, they have the opportunity to compete in this highly anticipated race.

Flying Lizard Motorsports, based in Sonoma, California, has a rich history in sports car racing. They started in the American Le Mans Series in the 2000s, competing with Porsche GT cars as a factory team. They were involved in the development of the first two generations of the Porsche 997 GT3 RSR. The team competed in nine editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and six races in the 24 Hours of Daytona, with their iconic red and silver livery. In 2014, they switched to Audi R8 LMS cars and became a GTD customer team in the United Sportscar Championship. Since 2015, they have been participating in the Pirelli World Challenge, now known as SRO America.

Andy Lee expressed his excitement to compete in the Long Beach Grand Prix, stating that it has always been a major goal for him and Elias. The race holds a special meaning for Elias, as it is close to his business and family. They were close to competing in the GT4 division in 2020 before the event was canceled due to the pandemic. Lee is thrilled for the opportunity to compete this year, especially in the GTD class of the IMSA WeatherTech.
