German driver Sophia Floersch, who is part of the Alpine Academy, praised the support she receives from the Anglo-French Formula 1 team. She considers their backing a significant advantage as she seeks to progress from Formula 3 to Formula 2. After competing in LMP2 cars, Floersch returned to the FIA Formula 3 World Championship in 2023 with the PHM Racing by Charouz team. She made history at Spa last year by becoming the first female driver to score points in F3. After the season, she joined the Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) team again, which supported her during her first F3 campaign in 2018. Floersch expressed her joy in joining VAR and reflected positively on her return to the team in Macau. Despite the challenges faced at the beginning of her 2024 F3 campaign, she is determined to persevere during the European stage of the season. However, she acknowledges the financial obstacles that arise when progressing through the junior categories. Floersch emphasized the importance of having Alpine’s support, as it greatly helps in her journey. Her ultimate goal is to reach F2, but she understands that this requires a substantial amount of funding. Nevertheless, Floersch feels prepared to compete in F2, having raced against many of the drivers currently in the category. She has trained intensively to ensure she is physically ready for the opportunity. However, she recognizes that securing a spot in F2 depends on various factors, including teams and partners. With numerous young drivers vying for limited positions in Formula 3 and Formula 2, luck also plays a role in determining who can race. Despite the uncertainty, Floersch remains focused on her own efforts and will let management, sponsors, and partners take care of the rest.
