During a press interview, Flavio Briatore acknowledged Alpine’s considerable interest in hiring Carlos Sainz. He stated that the team will make every effort to assess the situation in the coming days. Briatore emphasized that Alpine’s current priority is to focus on improving the car, rather than solely focusing on the driver. Enhancing the car’s performance is crucial for them as they are already falling behind in the standings. The brain behind the Crashgate believes that Alpine will prioritize building their car before making any decisions about their driver lineup.

Briatore expressed surprise at a driver like Sainz being available in the driver market without a team. The Italian conveyed everyone’s strong interest at Alpine in bringing the Spaniard to the team.
