Flavio Briatore Shocks Racing World with Surprise Announcement Regarding Franco Colapinto’s Contract

In a stunning turn of events, Flavio Briatore, the executive consultant of the French brand, has dropped a bombshell regarding the contractual situation of Argentine driver Franco Colapinto. The announcement made by Alpine on May 7th seemed crystal clear, stating that Colapinto would be replacing Jack Doohan for the next five races alongside Pierre Gasly. However, Briatore has now thrown a curveball by contradicting this statement in a shocking interview with Sky.

Briatore declared, “Franco will compete in the races he needs to. I have read about him having five races available, but no, there is no limit to his races. He needs to perform well, avoid crashes, and score points. I only ask these three things of him, not ten. If he does them well, he will drive forever.” Is this a true revelation or a tactic to relieve pressure off the shoulders of the young Argentine driver?

Furthermore, Briatore addressed the situation surrounding Oliver Oakes, who recently stepped down as the team principal of Alpine after the Miami race. Briatore clarified, “His resignation came after Miami due to a personal issue. Even I did not expect it when it happened. However, nothing changes. The organizational chart has shifted slightly, but everything else remains the same. This is a united team. It has been said that I had a disagreement with Oliver, but that’s not true. We have a great relationship.”
