Controversy Strikes as Flavio Briatore Claims F1 Legend Should Have Eight Titles

In a jaw-dropping revelation, the notorious Flavio Briatore, a name synonymous with Formula 1 drama, has unleashed a sensational claim that has fans and pundits buzzing: Fernando Alonso, the two-time world champion, should have racked up an astonishing eight world titles throughout his illustrious career! This bombshell statement comes from the man himself, now serving as an executive advisor for Alpine, an F1 team he once helmed during its Renault glory days.

Briatore’s controversial past is hard to ignore. Infamous for his role in the ‘Crashgate’ scandal that rocked the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, where he orchestrated a deliberate crash by Nelson Piquet Jr. to aid Alonso’s victory, the Italian mogul faced an indefinite ban from the sport. However, a French court intervened, lifting the lifetime ban and allowing him back into the paddock, where his impact continues to be felt.

Despite the shadows of his past, Briatore remains a vocal advocate for Alonso. “A driver like him should have won six or eight world championships, because he always made the difference for his team,” he boldly declared during a recent appearance on Dazn’s program ‘Bravissimo’. This praise is a stark reminder of Alonso’s undeniable talent, despite the fact that he has only secured two championships, back-to-back in 2005 and 2006.

The racing world is watching closely as Alonso, now 44, continues his quest for glory. After a brief retirement, he returned to racing with Alpine in 2021, securing a podium finish but falling short of title contention. Yet, hope is on the horizon for the veteran driver as he approaches the 2026 season, where he will have the opportunity to pilot an Adrian Newey-designed car for the very first time. With new regulations set to shake up the competitive landscape, Alonso’s potential for championship success could be reignited.

Fans are left to ponder: Can this racing titan finally add to his trophy cabinet, or will he remain a two-time champion in a sport that has often left him on the cusp of greatness? As the countdown to the 2026 season ticks away, all eyes will be on Alonso, Briatore’s prophetic words echoing in the background, igniting hope and speculation that the best is yet to come for this F1 icon. The next few years could indeed define Alonso’s legacy in ways we can only imagine!
