Mike Joy doesn’t hold back on Michael Waltrip after flag mishap at NASCAR All-Star Race

In a jaw-dropping moment at the NASCAR All-Star Race, Michael Waltrip faced the wrath of commentator Mike Joy after a flag-dropping incident during the promoter’s caution. The prestigious race held at North Wilkesboro Speedway witnessed an unexpected turn of events when Waltrip, acting as the flagman, fumbled with the flag, leading to a hilarious yet embarrassing moment.

The All-Star Race, consisting of the All-Star Open and the main 250-lap race, introduced a new twist with the promoter’s caution rule. This rule allowed the race promoter to intervene and call for a caution if the race became dull or uneventful. In a daring move, Waltrip, with guidance from race promoter Marcus Smith, opted to bring in the caution on Lap 216, injecting excitement into the competition.

As the caution flag was waved by Waltrip, chaos ensued when the flag accidentally slipped from his grasp onto the track. Commentator Mike Joy couldn’t resist taking a jab at Waltrip, exclaiming, “Oh no, you had one job!” The blunder was quickly noticed by fellow commentators Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer, adding to the comedic moment of the race.

This mishap wasn’t the first for Waltrip, who had previously dropped his phone on the track. However, this incident certainly added a touch of humor to the high-stakes NASCAR event. Despite the flag fiasco, the race continued with Christopher Bell of Joe Gibbs Racing emerging victorious, claiming the NASCAR All-Star title.

Bell’s triumph was not only a personal victory but a testament to the teamwork and dedication of Joe Gibbs Racing. In a post-race interview, Bell humbly credited his team for the success, emphasizing the collective effort behind his individual achievement. The NASCAR Cup Series driver expressed gratitude towards his crew, acknowledging their pivotal role in his accomplishments throughout the season.

In addition to his All-Star Race win, Bell’s stellar performance this season included victories at Atlanta, Austin, and Phoenix, solidifying his status as a formidable force in the NASCAR circuit. As the dust settles on the NASCAR All-Star Race, Bell’s name shines brightly among the racing elite, setting the stage for more thrilling competitions in the future.
