Stellantis expects to start production of the new hybrid Fiat 500 in November, the company announced this Monday.
The model will be built at the historic Mirafiori factory in Turin and aims to revitalize the Fiat brand in the European market, as well as increase production volumes for the brand in Italy.
The assembly of the first pre-production units has already begun in Mirafiori, according to the company, stating that this is a “crucial step in the industrialization process of the model”. Production of the new hybrid 500 is expected to start by the end of the year, with November being the company’s target.
Stellantis, which was formed in 2021 from the merger of Fiat-Chrysler and PSA, saw its production in Italy fall to the lowest level in nearly 70 years in 2024. The company presented a plan in December to revitalize production in Italy but warned that production numbers will only start to grow from 2026, with the launch of the new hybrid 500.
It is already known that the new hybrid model will join the 100% electric Fiat 500e and will be powered by a 1.0-liter three-cylinder Firefly gasoline engine, combined with a mild-hybrid system.
