In a bold move towards a brighter future for World Rallycross, the FIA takes the reins as the championship’s promoter after facing turbulent times with previous organizers. The departure of IMG and Rallycross Promoter has paved the way for the FIA to step in and steer the championship in a new direction.
Despite the uncertainty that comes with such significant changes, World RX’s tire supplier, Hoosier, remains steadfast in their confidence in the championship’s trajectory. Martin Heckers, Hoosier’s European president, expressed his optimism by stating, “We are happy that things are going in a direction right now.”
This shift in leadership is not unfamiliar territory for the world of rallycross. Before World RX’s inception, the FIA was the promoter of the European championship, showcasing their experience and dedication to the sport. Heckers commended the FIA for their commitment to rallycross, emphasizing their long-standing passion for the sport.
Looking ahead, Hoosier’s CEO, Joerg Burfien, foresees a more streamlined and efficient operation with the FIA taking on both the governing and promotional roles. By consolidating these responsibilities into one entity, Burfien believes that communication and decision-making processes will be expedited, ultimately benefitting the championship as a whole.
With the FIA at the helm, backed by the unwavering support of key suppliers like Hoosier, World Rallycross is poised to enter a new era of growth and success.
