Ferrari F1 Technical Director Defended Amidst Lack of Performance

The Ferrari F1 team is currently facing a barrage of criticism due to its lackluster performance in the 2025 season. Team principal Frederic Vasseur found himself in the hot seat defending the team’s technical director amidst growing concerns about the team’s engineering setup.

Vasseur admitted to making mistakes with the car but remained adamant that they know where improvements are needed. The team’s struggles have been evident, with Ferrari currently sitting in fourth place in the constructors’ standings, a whopping 152 points behind the leading McLaren team.

The scrutiny on Ferrari’s technical department has intensified, with questions arising about the capabilities of the team responsible for designing the underperforming SF-25. Vasseur addressed concerns about the confidence in the technical staff working on the 2026 car, emphasizing that Technical Director Loic Serra, who joined from Mercedes, inherited much of the current car’s design from his predecessor.

Despite the challenges faced by the team, Vasseur expressed confidence in the existing structure and team members, highlighting the need for continuous improvement in the highly competitive world of Formula 1. He dismissed talks of abandoning the SF-25 development and reassured fans that there is still untapped potential in the current project.

As Ferrari navigates through a turbulent season, Vasseur’s unwavering belief in the team’s ability to overcome obstacles and strive for excellence remains a driving force behind their relentless pursuit of success on the track.
