Ferrari’s Struggle in Miami: Vasseur Admits to Costly Errors

In a shocking turn of events at the Miami Qualifying Sprint, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc fell short by three tenths behind the impressive Andrea Kimi Antonelli, leaving the Scuderia struggling to keep up with the competition. Despite Leclerc managing to secure sixth place ahead of Hamilton, the gap of 326 milliseconds to Antonelli was a hard pill to swallow.

Team principal Frederic Vasseur didn’t mince his words when addressing Ferrari’s disappointing performance, citing costly errors and struggles with balance as the main culprits. Vasseur lamented, “We are having a hard time putting it all together and we are still making mistakes. We struggle with balance and pay the price for it because as soon as we make small mistakes, we overheat the tires and lose everything.”

The challenging second sector, particularly the slow section, posed significant difficulties for both Leclerc and Hamilton. Vasseur explained, “We lose a bit more in the low-speed corners, we have an issue with the car at the beginning of this sequence, and you carry it throughout the section, losing a couple of tenths overall.”

Leclerc expressed his frustration with track position during his SQ3 attempt, but Vasseur brushed it off, saying, “Nothing happened, we all went out at the same time, and there was confusion. Tomorrow, however, could be a different story. The track temperature will be one of the keys, and then the tire degradation will also come into play.”

As Ferrari grapples with their performance in Miami, the pressure is on to address their mistakes and find the competitive edge needed to secure better results in the upcoming races.
