Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, has expressed his support for Ferrari’s decision to extend team principal Frederic Vasseur’s contract. In a surprising turn of events, Hamilton revealed his satisfaction with the news, stating, “I found out yesterday, but you have heard my positive comments about Fred. I have nothing else to add, I told you it would be the right choice. Fred was the one who hired me, and I really wanted to work with him.”
During a press conference, Hamilton was asked to compare Toto Wolff and Frederic Vasseur, to which the Mercedes driver responded, “They are completely different people, but both true racers. I remember positively about Toto is his ability to understand how people worked best and get the most out of them. For example, with me, he gave me the right freedom to express myself as I wanted, and this allowed me to be the best version of myself. And I think Fred is similar, although I am still learning about his way of working. But I have absolute confidence in him, as I have always said.”
Regarding adapting to the Ferrari environment, Lewis Hamilton emphasized, “It’s just a matter of trying to understand the environment you are in and adapting. And I think the people who work with you will eventually learn to adapt to meet you halfway. The passion and the desire to continue improving are the most incredible things about this team, which has all the necessary ingredients to be successful. I believe in it, and I have signed up for it.”
