Ferrari’s Struggle Continues Despite Upgrades: Leclerc Admits Team Is Still Lagging Behind

Ferrari may have rolled out a significant upgrade package for the Bahrain Grand Prix, but the harsh reality remains – they are simply not fast enough to challenge their competitors, especially McLaren. Despite the improvements, Ferrari is still playing catch-up in the Formula 1 circuit.

The latest upgrades introduced by Ferrari included a revamped floor, extending from the front to the rear of the car, aimed at enhancing performance. Charles Leclerc showed some promise by securing a fourth-place finish in the second practice session, but he was still trailing behind McLaren’s Oscar Piastri by half a second.

Acknowledging the team’s current predicament, Leclerc admitted, “We’re just not fast enough when we look at McLaren, they are just on another planet for now.” The frustration is evident as Ferrari struggles to bridge the gap to their rivals.

Despite the positive impact of the upgrades, Leclerc emphasized the significant lead McLaren holds over Ferrari. The team is now focused on maximizing the current car’s potential to secure podium finishes while striving to eventually reclaim the title of the fastest car on the track.

Looking ahead, Leclerc anticipates a tough competition from McLaren and expects Mercedes to pose a challenge as well. While Red Bull’s Max Verstappen remains a formidable opponent, Ferrari is determined to optimize their car’s performance and make significant strides in upcoming races.

As Ferrari grapples with the reality of their current standing in Formula 1, the team is driven by the determination to close the gap and emerge as frontrunners once again. The battle for supremacy continues in the world of motorsport, with Ferrari pushing hard to regain its competitive edge.
