Ferrari’s Elkann Under Fire: Outrageous Attack on Hamilton and Leclerc Sparks Fury Among Fans!

In a shocking twist during the latest episode of the Total Motorsport F1 Show, Ferrari chairman John Elkann has ignited a firestorm of criticism with his outrageous remarks directed at two of Formula 1’s biggest stars: Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. The fallout from his comments, made after the Brazilian Grand Prix—where both drivers faced untimely retirements—has left fans and pundits alike reeling.

Elkann’s comments were nothing short of incendiary. He insisted, “We definitely have drivers who need to focus on driving and talk less because we still have important races ahead of us and getting second place is not impossible.” This statement comes on the heels of Ferrari’s dismal performance, which has left many questioning the chairman’s grip on reality. With the Tifosi (Ferrari fans) expressing their discontent and calling for Elkann’s resignation, it’s clear that his words have struck a nerve.

F1 journalists Brandon Sutton and Ewan Gale were quick to dissect Elkann’s claims, pointing out the absurdity of blaming the drivers for a lackluster season. Sutton slammed the chairman’s perspective, stating, “It was completely ridiculous. How can you criticize the drivers when Ferrari has just experienced its worst weekend of the entire season in terms of pace?” He further elaborated that the team’s standing is dismal, with the car struggling even against lower-tier teams like Aston Martin and Williams.

Elkann’s comments come at a time when both Hamilton and Leclerc are grappling with their own challenges on the track. Sutton emphasized, “The car is terrible. If this was last year, with drivers crashing out every race, perhaps it would be fair to criticize. But this year, the team has simply been nowhere.” His incredulity echoes the sentiments of many fans who see Elkann’s remarks as a desperate attempt to shift blame away from the team’s poor performance.

Ewan Gale added fuel to the fire, stating, “Let’s not forget that while McLaren won the constructors title last season, Ferrari was expected to be the favorite this year. They completely changed the car, but it turned out to be fundamentally flawed.” He pointed out that their supposed technological advances failed to translate into competitive speed, leaving drivers like Leclerc struggling to find their footing.

As both journalists noted, the criticism directed at Hamilton and Leclerc seems wholly misplaced. Hamilton’s recent struggles, including a mishap that led to his retirement in Brazil, were framed as mere accidents rather than indicative of a lack of skill. Gale remarked, “Was it Hamilton’s fault? No. And to criticize Leclerc, who was performing admirably before being taken out of the race, is farcical.”

What’s more alarming is the apparent disconnect between Elkann’s expectations and the current state of the Ferrari team. Sutton highlighted the long-standing entitlement mentality that seems to pervade the Scuderia, saying, “They act as if they are still in the Michael Schumacher era, despite their underwhelming results in recent years.” This refusal to acknowledge their shortcomings is raising eyebrows and leading fans to question the leadership’s sanity.

Adding to the drama, both Sutton and Gale speculated that Elkann’s statements could be a misguided PR tactic. With Ferrari recently celebrating a victory in the World Endurance Championship in Bahrain, it’s possible Elkann was attempting to pivot attention away from F1 controversies. However, as Jenson Button pointedly noted, “Just don’t say anything. Celebrate the WEC victory and come back next year with a car that’s good enough to give your drivers what they need to perform.”

As the dust settles from this astonishing episode, one thing is clear: Elkann’s controversial attack on Hamilton and Leclerc is far from over. With fans and analysts alike demanding accountability, the pressure is mounting on Ferrari’s leadership to right the ship before it’s too late. Will Elkann heed the calls for change, or will he continue to push his agenda at the expense of his drivers? Only time will tell, but the clock is ticking for the Scuderia to reclaim its glory on the track!
