Ferrari has announced that it will incorporate different shades of blue in the paint schemes of its two Formula 1 cars during the upcoming Miami Grand Prix weekend. This special design is being used to celebrate Ferrari’s 70th anniversary in the United States, paying tribute to the white and blue scheme they used in two races in the past. While the iconic Rosso Corsa red will still be the main color, Ferrari will bring back some selected blues from its heritage. The first shade, Azzurro La Plata, is a lighter blue that is the national racing color of Argentina and serves as a tribute to the late Alberto Ascari. Ascari, who drove for Ferrari from 1950 to 1953, won two Drivers’ Championships and wore blue overalls and a matching helmet. This shade of blue was also used by other Ferrari drivers such as John Surtees, Lorenzo Bandini, Ludovico Scarfiotti, Chris Amon, and Niki Lauda. Additionally, Ferrari will incorporate a deeper shade of blue called Azzurro Dino, which was last seen in 1974 before the team switched to its iconic red livery. The celebration of this special occasion will take place during the build-up to the Miami Grand Prix and throughout the race weekend at the Miami International Autodrome, which is the first of three races in the United States. The new color scheme will be unveiled in Florida, although the exact date has not been announced yet. A parade of Ferrari cars, led by two blue 296 GT6s, will also be featured at the Miami circuit.
