Ferrari Set to Dominate WEC with Unchanged Hypercar Driver Line-up Amid Intense Competition
In a bold move that has sent shockwaves through the World Endurance Championship, Ferrari has announced its unwavering decision to stick with the same driver line-up for its two factory 499P Le Mans Hypercars for the 2026 season. The Italian powerhouse, led by sportscar racing boss Antonello Coletta, is doubling down on the importance of stability within its AF Corse-run Hypercar team.
Coletta emphasized, “There is no intention to change anybody, so I hope that we can keep the same team for the next seasons.” The current drivers include Antonio Fuoco, Nicklas Nielsen, and Miguel Molina in car #50, as well as James Calado, Alessandro Pier Guidi, and Antonio Giovinazzi in car #51.
While Coletta expressed immense pride in the team’s performance since the debut of the 499P in 2023, he cautioned that it is premature to confirm the line-ups for the upcoming season. The fierce competition intensifies with the imminent entry of three new manufacturers – Genesis in 2026, followed by McLaren and Ford in 2027 – shaking up the Hypercar driver market.
Ferrari’s proactive stance was evident as they renewed contracts for six drivers from their sportscar roster, ensuring the retention of key talents such as Fuoco, Molina, Pier Guidi, Calado, and Nielsen. The team’s approach to multi-year extensions underscores their commitment to long-term success and stability in the face of escalating competition.
As the battle for supremacy in the WEC heats up, Ferrari’s strategic decision to maintain a consistent driver line-up signals their unwavering determination to dominate the Hypercar class. With rivals gearing up for a fierce showdown, all eyes are on Ferrari as they gear up for the high-stakes 2026 season.
