Ferrari’s team principal Fred Vasseur is fighting for his job given the rumors surrounding him potentially losing the position with Christian Horner taking up the role. There is uncertainty regarding Vasseur remaining in charge and this has fueled great speculation, including comments from former Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve.
Vasseur has remained quiet regarding the renewal of his contract, Villeneuve indicated there is increasing pressure, with eyes starting to turn towards Horner as a real possibility on taking his spot on the pit wall at Maranello.
“As I said before, the job at Ferrari has always been the toughest job. You have to deliver and if you don’t, you get fired.”, said Villeneuve regarding Vasseur’s outlook for the future. “He has been hired to be a team principal and he knows if he doesn’t meet expectations, he will probably get fired. We have seen it many times before, Ferrari will have 2-3 bad races and they will say goodbye to the team principal without hesitation.”
With speculation running rampant and Vasseur’s future seemingly even more tenuous, the stewards of Ferrari will be under a microscope to make a decision soon. Was a bit of a storm on the way, we never know if Horner will be back at the helm of one of the fastest teams in F1.
