Ferrari Slapped with €5000 Fine for Procedural Oversight on Tyres
Italian powerhouse Ferrari is feeling the sting of a procedural misstep during the FP1 session involving Charles Leclerc’s car. The team from Maranello has been hit with a hefty €5000 fine by race officials for failing to adhere to regulations during the first free practice session. The mechanics working on Leclerc’s car breached Technical Directive 003Q 2.g.ii by adjusting tyre pressures without following the prescribed procedure while the car was stationary in the pit lane.
According to the Technical Directive, tyre temperatures must be obtained before any adjustments, such as pressure reduction, are made. Ferrari has admitted to not following these procedures, a clear violation of Article 30.5 a) of the Sporting Regulations. Despite the transgression occurring during a practice session, officials decided to penalize the Scuderia with a €5000 fine, in line with similar past tyre-related infractions.
This incident serves as a reminder that even the most esteemed teams are not immune to scrutiny when it comes to upholding regulations in the high-stakes world of Formula 1.
