In a 2023 season dominated by Red Bull, Ferrari was the only team to win a Grand Prix other than the Red Bulls. However, they were far from being a threat in the title fight, with an ineffective race car, and even lost second place in the Constructors’ Championship to Mercedes. For 2024, Flavio Briatore expects improvements.
Quoted in Monaco Tribune, the controversial former team leader analyzed: ‘Their championship was like a contrast. There were races where they were competitive in qualifying, with much less fuel, and then they were not as competitive in the race. We have to hope for an improvement this winter if they want to be more competitive. For the good of all Italians and the sport, I hope Ferrari can do better, although winning the World Championship may be complicated’.
Briatore has set a more moderate goal for Ferrari: ‘Ferrari should aim for podiums in at least every race. Hopefully, a Frenchman [Frédéric Vasseur, team principal] can help Ferrari win, just like I helped the French [Renault]’.
