FERRARI FF DRAG RACES KIA EV6 GT, DEEPLY REGRETS DECISION.

FERRARI FF DRAG RACES KIA EV6 GT, DEEPLY REGRETS DECISION.

4RM, which stands for four quattro ruote motrici, is a unique system that includes a second transmission. Supplied by Carraro Engineering, this secondary transmission has two forward gears and a reverse gear. According to former Ferrari technical director Roberto Fedeli, who is now the chief technical officer at Aston Martin Lagonda, the front-drive gearbox reduces the 0-60 mph (97 kph) time by 0.2 to 0.3 seconds.

The 4RM system weighs less than 90 pounds (40 kilograms) and is capable of reaching 100 kilometers per hour in 3.7 seconds. The featured FF in the video has been modified with a tune and straight pipes, resulting in a power output of over 700 horsepower, compared to the stock 660 ps (651 horsepower). Despite its impressive performance, the Ferrari FF is no match for the Kia EV6 GT crossover.

The Kia EV6 GT is considered the indirect successor of the Stinger and is based on the upcoming eM platform. Kia is reportedly working on a true replacement for the Stinger in the form of an electric sedan codenamed GT1. Expected to launch in the first half of 2026, the GT1 will feature a two-motor arrangement and deliver up to 450 kW or 603 mechanical horsepower. In comparison, the EV6 GT produces 576 horsepower and 546 pound-feet (740 Nm) of torque.

Although the EV6 GT is heavier than the Ferrari FF, it easily outperforms the V12-powered shooting brake in a drag race over 1,000 feet (305 meters). Even with a 1.5 car head start for the Ferrari and three passengers weighing down the EV6 GT, the crossover proves its dominance. However, when it comes to the sound, the Ferrari FF certainly steals the show.

The Ferrari FF was replaced by the GTC4Lusso in 2016, but production of the GTC4Lusso ended in 2020 without a direct successor. It is unlikely that Ferrari will release a replacement due to the increasing popularity of SUVs and the upcoming release of their first SUV, the Purosangue. The Purosangue is expected to make up no more than 20 percent of Ferrari’s annual deliveries, with the company selling a record-breaking 13,663 vehicles in 2023. This would mean that Purosangue deliveries would total around 2,732 to 2,733 units.
