Ferrari F1 Drivers Fear the Worst for Monaco Grand Prix

The drivers of the Ferrari team are bracing themselves for a tough weekend at the Monaco Grand Prix, with concerns about their car’s performance lingering despite a solid recovery at the Emilia Romagna GP. Both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are feeling apprehensive about the upcoming race, acknowledging that the challenging Monaco circuit will expose the weaknesses of their SF-25 machine.

Leclerc expressed his doubts, stating, “We are heading to a track that will highlight our weaknesses. There is always unpredictability, with different setups compared to other circuits, so we hope to be surprised as we were in Imola during the race.” Hamilton echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the struggles the Scuderia car faces on the tight corners of the Monaco track, contrasting with its strengths on faster bends.

The Ferrari team is diligently working on updates to enhance the car’s performance, with reports indicating a focus on a new version of the rear suspension to address its major flaw. However, these improvements are not expected to debut until around the British GP. Recent setbacks have led to scrutiny of the team’s new technical director, Loic Serra, with Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur acknowledging some missteps but emphasizing the team’s unwavering motivation.

To compound Ferrari’s challenges, McLaren’s Head of Aerodynamics, Giuseppe ‘Pino’ Pesce, allegedly turned down an offer to join the team, adding another layer of complexity to their technical struggles. As the Monaco Grand Prix approaches, all eyes are on Ferrari as they strive to overcome their car’s limitations and regain their competitive edge in the F1 championship battle.
