Ferrari CEO Vigna Affirms: “Ferrari Cars Will Always Be Made in Maranello” Despite Market Challenges

At the Reuters NEXT conference in New York, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna delivered a clear message amidst looming global trade uncertainties: Ferrari will remain steadfast in its commitment to manufacturing its iconic vehicles exclusively in Maranello, Italy.

Amid discussions of potential tariffs on European goods following the election of Donald Trump as U.S. President, Vigna confidently stated, “We make cars in Maranello. We will sell cars in the U.S., but we will make cars in Maranello.”

Ferrari’s Strategy Amid Potential U.S. Tariffs

The president-elect’s proposed tariffs on European imports have raised concerns for manufacturers, but Vigna remained unfazed, emphasizing Ferrari’s strong global demand.

“Our order book is pretty strong,” Vigna assured. “He decides what to do here, we will cope with those new rules… there will be tariffs for us, for everyone. It’s good because when you have the realities changing around you, it’s a way to foster more and more innovation.”

The Electric Future of Ferrari

As the auto industry shifts toward electrification, Vigna reaffirmed Ferrari’s plans to debut its first fully electric car in late 2025. While reports suggest a price tag exceeding €500,000 ($526,000), Vigna clarified the final pricing would reflect the emotional value of the vehicle:

“It depends on the emotion that we are able to transmit with the car.”

Crypto for Cars, But No Speculation

Ferrari’s embrace of cryptocurrency payments, launched in the U.S. last year and now available in select European dealerships, underscores the company’s push for seamless customer experiences. However, Vigna emphasized that Ferrari does not invest in cryptocurrencies directly:

“We wanted to provide the opportunity for clients. In any case, we get cash – dollar or euro depending on the country. We love cash. We don’t want to speculate on crypto.”

Racing DNA: The Cadillac Partnership

Vigna also expressed pride in Ferrari’s recently announced partnership to supply engines and gearboxes to the new Cadillac Formula 1 team starting in 2026. Highlighting Ferrari’s deep roots in motorsport, he remarked:

“In our DNA is racing. We have been present in this sport – which is now becoming entertainment – since the beginning.”

The Ferrari Legacy Endures

Ferrari’s unwavering commitment to its Italian heritage, innovative spirit, and global customer base positions the company to navigate any challenges, from geopolitical shifts to technological revolutions. As Vigna aptly concluded, the company’s essence remains rooted in Maranello, where Ferrari’s legacy continues to grow, even as the automotive world evolves.
