Ferrari Chief Downplays F1 Qualifying Woes, but Urges for Improvement

In a bold statement, Ferrari’s top executive, Frederic Vasseur, has dismissed concerns over the team’s qualifying performance in the 2025 Formula 1 season, labeling it as “not a drama.” Despite their struggles to match the pace of their rivals in single-lap speed, Vasseur remains optimistic about Ferrari’s prospects.

Throughout the recent triple-header races, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc managed to secure fourth, third, and fourth in qualifying, while Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton found himself further down the grid in eighth, ninth, and seventh positions. Leclerc’s near-misses for pole position by a few tenths in each race have underscored the team’s need for improvement in qualifying sessions.

Acknowledging the intense competition in F1, Vasseur emphasized the fine margins that separate success from disappointment in qualifying. He pointed out how even top teams like McLaren face challenges in extracting the maximum performance from their cars, highlighting the need for precision and consistency on the track.

Despite Ferrari’s aspirations for the F1 title, Vasseur stressed the importance of maintaining composure and focusing on incremental gains rather than getting caught up in the perceived drama of qualifying deficits. He called for a strategic approach to piecing together the right elements for success in races, echoing the sentiment that small improvements can lead to significant advancements in performance.

Looking ahead, Vasseur emphasized the necessity of consistency in Ferrari’s performances to mount a serious challenge for the championship. While acknowledging areas that require enhancement, he remained confident in the team’s potential to deliver stronger results with a more consistent and refined approach to racing.

As Ferrari aims to address its qualifying struggles and elevate its competitive standing in the F1 hierarchy, Vasseur’s measured perspective underscores the team’s commitment to continuous improvement and unwavering focus on achieving success on the track.
