Former Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo expresses deep sadness over Fernando Alonso’s struggles at Aston Martin, hinting at a possible retirement for the Spanish driver. As Alonso faces a challenging season with zero points so far, di Montezemolo hopes for a more competitive car for the F1 veteran in his potential final year in the sport.

Alonso, a double World Champion, extended his contract with Aston Martin through 2026 but hinted that it could be his last. With a disappointing start to the F1 2025 season, including two retirements and no points in four races, Alonso finds himself in a challenging position, reminiscent of his difficult 2017 season.

The Spaniard acknowledges the need for significant improvements in the Aston Martin car, especially in low-speed corners where the team has been struggling. Despite his efforts, Alonso remains realistic about the team’s chances of scoring points in a highly competitive field dominated by top teams like McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari.

Former Ferrari chief Luca di Montezemolo voices his concern for Alonso’s situation, emphasizing the frustration of seeing such a talented driver in an uncompetitive car towards the end of his career. Di Montezemolo expresses hope for Alonso to have a better-performing car in the upcoming season, recognizing the driver’s exceptional talent and champion spirit.

As Alonso prepares for the next race in Saudi Arabia, he remains hopeful but cautious about his prospects, acknowledging the fierce competition in the midfield. Despite the challenges, Alonso is determined to give his best performance and aims to break his dry spell in the upcoming races.

The Formula 1 community watches closely as Alonso navigates through a tough season, with fans and experts alike rooting for the resilient driver to overcome obstacles and showcase his skills on the track. Will Alonso turn the tide and secure a strong finish in the races to come? Only time will tell as the seasoned driver continues to chase his passion for speed and victory in the world of Formula 1.
