Fernando Alonso’s Bold Move: Shifting Focus to Alpine Amidst Disappointing Start at Aston Martin in the 2025 F1 Season

Spanish racing sensation Fernando Alonso is not one to dwell on setbacks, even as his Aston Martin team struggles to make a mark in the 2025 Formula 1 season. With two races down and no points on the board for Alonso, he remains unfazed, keeping his eyes set on the long road ahead.

While Alonso faced early exits in the first two races, his teammate Lance Stroll managed to secure a commendable 6th position in Australia and a respectable 12th place in China. Despite showing promise in the Sprint race in China, both Aston Martin cars fell just short of scoring points.

Alonso, a seasoned veteran, is well aware of the ebbs and flows of a grueling F1 season. He remains optimistic, drawing parallels to Alpine’s turnaround in the 2024 season. The Spaniard emphasized the unpredictability of F1, highlighting Alpine’s climb from the back of the grid to contending for points by the end of the previous year.

With a whopping 24 races on the calendar this season, Alonso understands the importance of consistency and resilience. He noted, “Anything can happen, so over 24 races we have to finish the season strong.” Alonso aims to reverse Aston Martin’s trend of starting strong but fading as the season progresses, expressing confidence in fighting for a higher position by the end of the year.

Looking ahead, Alonso hinted at Aston Martin’s focus shifting towards the 2026 season, a sentiment echoed by many teams preparing for the upcoming regulation changes. The acquisition of renowned car designer Adrian Newey signals Aston Martin’s commitment to a promising future, with Newey already directing his attention to next season’s car development.

As Alonso navigates the challenges of the 2025 season, his strategic outlook and unwavering determination set the stage for a potential resurgence for Aston Martin. With eyes on Alpine’s inspiring journey and sights set on future success, Alonso’s resilience and adaptability could prove to be the key to turning Aston Martin’s fortunes around in the fiercely competitive world of Formula 1.
