Fernando Alonso diz que Aston Martin está em declínio após ser superado pela Alpine no Grande Prêmio da Espanha.

Both Aston Martin team drivers failed to qualify for the Q3 session in the qualifying round in Barcelona. Fernando Alonso, Bruno Famin, and Esteban Ocon (via IMAGO) were also present.

After being surpassed by the Alpines in the Barcelona qualifying, an Aston Martin F1 driver shared his thoughts on the team’s performance. Alonso, who had a disappointing race in his own country, qualified in P11.

The Alpine F1 team has faced difficulties this season, with their car being one of the most problematic on the grid. However, they have shown improvement since the Monaco Grand Prix and managed to secure P7 and P9 positions in the next race in Barcelona.

Fernando Alonso expressed that Alpine, which used to struggle to keep up with Aston Martin, has now surpassed them in the qualifying in just a few races. The two-time world champion highlighted that the Silverstone-based team has not been successful with their upgrades and has performed worse than before.

Despite a good start to the 2023 season, the green-colored team has had a significant drop in their performances. Now, they will seek to maximize their potential and score points during the Spanish Grand Prix.

It was mentioned that the British engineer, , should exercise caution if he decides to join Aston Martin next season. Newey, who recently announced his departure from Red Bull after 18 successful years, is speculated to be in negotiations with several teams, including Aston Martin, for a move in 2025.

Adrian Newey is a highly successful design engineer in the history of F1, having won 13 driver championships and 12 constructor championships with various teams. Lance Stroll expressed that having someone as brilliant as Newey on the team in 2025 would be an honor and a significant boost to their project. However, the actual details of Newey’s future plans remain uncertain, as new rumors continue to circulate.
