Fernando Alonso otimista com retorno da Aston Martin apesar de decepção no Grande Prêmio do Bahrein.

Aston Martin is currently the fifth fastest team on the 2024 Formula 1 grid. Fernando Alonso expressed satisfaction with Aston Martin’s performance at the Bahrain Grand Prix, where they finished in ninth and tenth place. Looking ahead, Alonso aims to replicate McLaren’s success in 2023 by strengthening the team during the second half of the year.

Last year’s Bahrain Grand Prix was a turning point for Aston Martin. This season, Silverstone and Alonso changed the course of the race. The improvements made at the Grand Prix were expected to have a continuous impact, unlike in 2023 when they were established early on. Alonso’s ninth place and his teammate’s tenth place were results of these anticipated improvements.

In an interview after the Bahrain GP, Alonso stated that they expected to be the fourth or fifth fastest team. It is predicted that Aston Martin will progress over time and overcome their current challenging situation. In the first race of the year, the team was 18 seconds behind McLaren, while the gap to Sauber was 28 seconds.

Aston Martin made a significant impact in the F1 paddock last season with notable performance improvements. They reached the podium eight times in 2023, establishing themselves as a reliable contender for the top three.

The technical revival of Aston Martin was led by their new technical director. The director, who left Red Bull in 2022, aims to make further improvements this season. He is willing to take responsibility if the team fails to deliver a faster car. The British engineer was hired to work on the development of the Aston Martin car, inspired by Red Bull’s success.

In 2023, the Aston Martin car showed a significant improvement compared to its 2021 model, scoring 280 points and achieving eight podiums. The technical team was praised for their exceptional performance, and the director expects to lead them to even greater success in 2024. However, there is a possibility that Fernando Alonso will leave the team if they fail to produce a car faster than the AMR23.
