It won’t be next year that Felipe Drugovich joins the Formula 1 grid. The Formula 2 champion in 2022 has renewed with Aston Martin to once again be a test and reserve driver – a position he reached this year.

This year, the Brazilian has already participated in pre-season tests and the first free practice of the Italian GP, repeating his presence in the FP1 of the Abu Dhabi GP at the end of November. At the same time, he has been working on development with a 2021 AMR21 on various tracks, in addition to the simulator program. All of this will continue in 2024.

The team principal, Mike Krack, stated in a press release: ‘Everyone at Aston Martin is incredibly pleased that Felipe will stay with us in 2024. He is a familiar face within the team, he understands the specific demands of the position, he has tremendous work ethic, and he showed his speed and experience after superbly replacing the injured Lance Stroll during pre-season testing in Bahrain. Whenever he is behind the wheel, we clearly see the strengths of his collaboration: his pace, feedback, and commitment are all extremely valuable to our engineers. […]. We are looking forward to another productive season together in 2024’.
