Chinese cars continue to surprise with records that are happening with increasing regularity. And now, in addition to the sometimes overwhelming sales figures, performance records are also being added: the GAC Hyptec SSR is the protagonist of the latest, after inscribing its name in the Guinness World Records, having performed a drift maneuver at 214.523 km/h!
The Chinese supercar is thus officially the protagonist of the fastest drift in the world carried out by a 100% electric vehicle, a feat that GAC Aion continues to promote, especially on the company’s pages on major social networks. And this record, to be valid, required the Hyptec SSR to maintain a minimum drift angle of 30º throughout the maneuver and to exceed a speed of 207 km/h over a continuous distance of 50 m, which was obviously achieved. At the controls was the Chinese professional driver Ye Zhicheng.

Although no videos of this record have yet been released, GAC Aion recorded the moment to present the images in a short promotional film during the 15th edition of the National Games of the People’s Republic of China. It is important to mention that the Hyptec SSR has three electric motors (one in the front and two in the rear), which generate a combined 1225 hp and 1230 Nm, figures that explain the mere 1.9 seconds it takes to go from 0 to 100 km/h, and also its ability to generate forces of up to 1.7 g!
