FIA SLAMS F2 Sensation Sebastian Montoya with €10,000 Fine Ahead of Qatar GP!

In a shocking turn of events, the FIA has dropped the hammer on rising motorsport star Sebastian Montoya just days before the electrifying Qatar Grand Prix! The 20-year-old F2 driver, son of legendary seven-time grand prix champion Juan Pablo Montoya, is now facing a hefty €10,000 fine for a startling administrative blunder.

As the excitement ramps up at the Lusail International Circuit for the penultimate showdown in both F2 and F1 for the 2025 season, Montoya’s misstep could not have come at a worse time. Currently sitting in 10th place in the F2 standings during his rookie season, the Prema Racing driver was expected to make headlines for his on-track prowess, but instead, he finds himself embroiled in controversy.

The trouble began when the FIA received a report revealing that Montoya had participated in a GB3 single-seater test at Snetterton on September 23 and 24 without notifying the FIA or the event promoter. The stewards wasted no time in addressing the issue and laid down the law, stating that Montoya’s failure to communicate this essential information constituted a violation of Article 10.5 of the Sporting Regulations.

In an official statement, the FIA detailed the proceedings: “The stewards examined the report received from the FIA and an email from Prema. They summoned and heard the driver and team representative.” They confirmed that Montoya’s management team had organized the test session, but a miscommunication led to the driver and his team being completely unaware of the obligation to inform the FIA. The team representative even admitted ignorance of Montoya’s participation until after the test was completed.

“Having considered the matter extensively,” the stewards concluded, “this was an administrative error by the driver, who failed to inform his team and the FIA and promoter about the single-seater activity as required.” The ruling echoes previous penalties, with Montoya’s team having already faced a €500 fine earlier in the season due to a pit lane dress code violation involving his physio.

This latest incident raises questions about the internal communications within Montoya’s team and whether they are adequately preparing the young driver for the pressures of professional racing. With the championship title race heating up, Montoya must now focus on shaking off the distractions and channeling his energy into a strong performance at the Qatar GP.

As fans gear up for the thrilling conclusion of the racing season, all eyes will be on Montoya to see if he can rise above the controversy and deliver a spectacular performance on the track. Will he turn this setback into fuel for his ambition, or will the weight of the FIA’s punishment hinder his quest for glory? The world awaits the answer!
