F1’s groundbreaking deputy race director Claire Dubbelman departs FIA for Saudi Arabia role

F1 SHOCKWAVE: Claire Dubbelman Makes Bold Exit from FIA as Motorsports Scene Shifts to Saudi Arabia!

In a stunning move that reverberates across the motorsport world, Claire Dubbelman, the esteemed deputy race director of Formula 1, has officially departed from her role at the FIA. This significant transition comes as she gears up to take on a pivotal new position within Saudi Arabia’s national motorsport federation. The motorsport community is buzzing with excitement and intrigue as Dubbelman’s next chapter unfolds.

With nearly nine years under her belt at the FIA, Dubbelman has made her mark since stepping in as championship manager back in 2017. Her meteoric rise culminated in February 2024 when she was appointed as the F1 sporting manager and deputy race director. This historic achievement made her not only the youngest but also the very first woman to hold an FIA Super Licence for Race Directors.

The departure of such a prominent figure from the FIA is sure to raise eyebrows and stir conversations among racing enthusiasts and professionals alike. Dubbelman leaves the organization on excellent terms, despite her official contract expiring on December 31, 2025. Sources indicate that she is set to play a vital role in Saudi Arabia’s motorsport ambitions, specifically within the federation’s sporting and technical department.

Saudi Arabia’s foray into the world of Formula 1 has been nothing short of explosive. Since hosting its inaugural Grand Prix in 2021, the nation has rapidly solidified its position on the F1 calendar, with the Jeddah Corniche Circuit becoming a staple early-season event. Furthermore, whispers of plans to introduce a second race at a new circuit in Qiddiya have sparked interest, suggesting that Saudi Arabia is poised to become a formidable player in the realm of motorsports.

Dubbelman has been a fierce advocate for female participation in motorsport, passionately championing diversity within the industry. Reflecting on her groundbreaking achievement as deputy race director, she shared on social media, “Becoming the first woman to hold an FIA Super Licence for Race Directors is something I’m incredibly proud of. It’s been a long journey filled with passion, dedication, and the support of so many amazing people around me. This licence isn’t just a personal milestone — it’s a step forward for everyone working to break barriers and build a more inclusive future in motorsport. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.”

As the motorsport landscape evolves and new opportunities arise, all eyes will be on Claire Dubbelman as she embarks on this exciting new venture in Saudi Arabia. Will her influence reshape the future of motorsports in the region? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: the world will be watching! Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops!
