Formula 1 Star Jack Doohan Receives Death Threats from Fanatics of Colapinto: Forced to Hire Bodyguards in Miami
The world of Formula 1 has been rocked by disturbing news as Australian driver Jack Doohan, son of motorcycle racing legend Mick Doohan, revealed he has been the target of death threats from fanatics of fellow racer Franco Colapinto. The unsettling revelation came to light during the recent Miami Grand Prix, where Doohan felt compelled to have round-the-clock security to ensure his safety.
Renowned photographer Kym Illman shed light on the harrowing situation, stating that Doohan had been living in fear due to the reprehensible behavior of some supporters of Colapinto, who crossed the line from enthusiastic fans to dangerous fanatics. Illman disclosed that individuals had even gone as far as discovering Doohan’s personal email address to send him threatening messages, causing immense distress to the young driver, his father, and his girlfriend.
In an Instagram video, Illman expressed, “In Miami, Jack Doohan had bodyguards 24/7 and had already booked them for the race in Brazil. Among all the drivers, only Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, and Oscar Piastri have full-time bodyguards. Some people had found out his personal email address and had sent him threats. This had greatly worried both Jack, his father, and his girlfriend. I am certain that Franco Colapinto would not condone this behavior from a minority of his fans.”
Following the Miami GP, Doohan disabled comments on his Instagram posts after being relentlessly targeted by Colapinto’s fanatics. The toxic atmosphere surrounding Doohan has raised concerns about the safety and security of drivers in the fiercely competitive world of Formula 1, where rivalries and passions run high.
As the sport grapples with this alarming development, it serves as a stark reminder of the dark side of fanaticism and the potential risks that drivers face both on and off the track. The F1 community waits anxiously to see how authorities will address this concerning issue and ensure the safety of all individuals involved in the sport.
