Australian F1 sensation Jack Doohan fights back against vicious online trolls who targeted his family with abuse in the wake of reserve driver Franco Colapinto’s debut for Alpine at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. The drama unfolded when a fake Instagram post, falsely attributed to Doohan’s father, Mick, mocked Colapinto’s misfortunes on the track, sparking a wave of harassment towards the Doohan family on social media.

In a heartfelt plea on Instagram, Doohan denounced the fabricated post, clarifying that it was the work of Argentine fans seeking to tarnish his family’s reputation. The 22-year-old driver expressed disappointment at the situation, emphasizing the falsity of the claims and urging an end to the harassment directed at his loved ones.

As tensions escalated, formulafakers, the account behind the fake post, issued a public apology to the Doohan family, acknowledging the harm caused by their actions and expressing regret for the unforeseen consequences of their prank. The incident highlighted the dark side of social media and the real-world impact of online abuse in the realm of professional sports.

The controversy did not end there, as FIA chief Mohamed Ben Sulayem condemned further online abuse directed at drivers during the Grand Prix weekend, underscoring the need to address the issue of cyberbullying in the world of Formula 1. Amidst the adrenaline-fueled races and fierce competition on the track, the disturbing trend of online harassment serves as a sobering reminder of the challenges faced by athletes in the digital age.
