Chaos Strikes at São Paulo: Two F1 Stars Forced to Start from Pit Lane!
In a dramatic turn of events at the iconic Interlagos circuit, two Formula 1 drivers are set to begin the São Paulo sprint from the pit lane, leaving fans and teams stunned. Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda and Williams’ Carlos Sainz have both suffered setbacks that have drastically altered their race strategies.
Tsunoda’s day took a disastrous turn during the practice session on Friday. Just eight minutes in, he lost control and careened off the track, violently clipping a barrier with his front-left wheel. The impact sent him spinning, and he collided with another barrier on the rear-left side, resulting in extensive damage. The subsequent repairs kept him off the track for a staggering 28 minutes of the hour-long session, robbing him of essential practice time.
When the dust settled, Tsunoda found himself languishing in 18th position during qualifying for the sprint, a far cry from the competitive pace expected from Red Bull. In stark contrast, his teammate, four-time world champion Max Verstappen, showcased impressive speed, securing a spot in the second position for the sprint.
As the team strategized for the upcoming sprint, Red Bull made the controversial decision to alter Tsunoda’s rear wing and tweak the suspension setup, all while out of parc fermé. This critical adjustment, however, comes with a steep price—starting from the pit lane.
Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz faced his own share of misfortune. The Williams driver qualified dead last at 20th after a costly mistake on his final hot lap at Turn 1, sealing his fate for the sprint. Similar to Tsunoda, Sainz’s car underwent suspension changes, resulting in a pit lane start.
As the anticipation builds for the São Paulo sprint, fans are left wondering how these two drivers will navigate the challenging course from the back of the pack. Will they rise to the occasion or be left in the dust? One thing is for sure: the drama is only just beginning in this high-stakes race!
