F1 Rookie’s Shocking Threat to Rival Revealed: Dramatic Twist Before Spanish GP

Brazilian F1 driver Gabriel Bortoleto has set the record straight regarding his controversial “put him in the wall” comment directed at fellow driver Kimi Antonelli before the Spanish Grand Prix.

Bortoleto clarified that the snippet was taken out of context from a longer conversation with his engineer about Antonelli not being penalized after a collision that ended Bortoleto’s race. The young driver emphasized that the comment was not a direct threat but rather an expression of frustration at the lack of consequences for the incident.

In the aftermath of a crash at the Monaco Grand Prix where Antonelli attempted a risky overtake, Bortoleto labeled the move as “desperate” and hinted at potential retaliation in the future. However, the two drivers reportedly discussed the incident post-race, with Bortoleto stating that they have mutual respect dating back to their karting days.

While acknowledging the competitive nature of racing and the inevitability of such incidents, Bortoleto made it clear that he is not seeking revenge against Antonelli in the upcoming race in Barcelona. He emphasized that the circulated clip was heavily edited and did not accurately represent the entirety of his statement.

In an interview with Sky F1, Bortoleto addressed the issue of selective editing in the media, highlighting how snippets can be misconstrued to fit a particular narrative. Despite the controversy surrounding his remarks, Bortoleto remains focused on his performance on the track and maintaining a professional relationship with his fellow drivers in the competitive world of Formula 1.
