Young F1 sensation Antonelli refuses to make excuses: “I must improve even more”

Italian driver Kimi Antonelli faced disappointment in Bahrain as he finished 11th, a result mainly attributed to unfortunate incidents during the race. Despite setbacks, the determined racer from Bologna is adamant about not seeking alibis for his performance.

Antonelli, making his first appearance outside the points this season, seemed poised for another stellar weekend after an impressive fourth-place finish in the previous race. However, luck was not on his side this time. A grid penalty pushed him down to fifth, early pit stops resulted in traffic complications, and an ill-timed Safety Car deployment further hindered his progress.

The 18-year-old driver had to fight his way back from 14th place, only to be thwarted by a Haas car at the finish line. Despite the challenges faced, Antonelli stood firm and refused to shift blame for his race performance.

In a post-race interview with Sky Sport F1, Antonelli commented on the need for a review of strategic decisions, expressing frustration at losing ground after each pit stop. He highlighted the significant impact of dirty air on high-degradation tracks like Bahrain, emphasizing the areas he still needs to work on to enhance his performance.

Acknowledging the tough race, Antonelli acknowledged the immediate focus on the upcoming race week, demonstrating his resilience and commitment to continuous improvement in the highly competitive world of Formula 1.
